Town Council Meeting June 2017
The monthly Town Council meeting was held on June 13, 2017. The meeting agenda can be viewed here.
Special Requests
Brian Allison, co-owner of Plum Creek Winery, made a special request from the Town of Tazewell to allow use of Main Street on July 8, 2017, for his ‘Bottoms Up Beer & Wine Festival’. Town Council voted to allow the event, which is required for events that include serving of alcohol. Mayor Buchanan also asked for a financial report after the event, so the impact of Main Street events on Main Street businesses can be assessed. You can find more information about this event here.
Public Comments
Greever Asbury came before Town Council to recommend that they acknowledge the extra efforts the Town’s public works employees put in for the Town of Tazewell. He cited examples from trash collection, Back of the Dragon, the Cruise-In’s, and other events, stating he felt they deserved recognition for going above and beyond their duties. Mayor Buchanan, along with Town Council, agreed, stating they do have wonderful employees, saying he recently saw William Asbury caring for the flowers on Main Street after hours.
