North Tazewell Business District Revitalization

As part of our commitment to revitalization, the Town of Tazewell coordinated a North Tazewell Downtown Plan Workshop on December 17-18, 2024. The workshop was brought to you through a planning grant we received through Virginia’s DHCD, similar to previous grants utilized during our Main Street revitalization effort. The primary goal of this workshop was to begin developing a plan and strategy for the North Tazewell business district located near the Tazewell Train Station and the former Bowling Alley. Current plans for the neighborhood include repurposing the now vacant lot as the site of the Tazewell Farmer’s Market and improving access to the Clinch River. Area business and property owners participated in this session with our planning team, made possible through this grant.

With feedback from this workshop and work performed by the planning team in the coming months, our goal is to create a solid plan of action for this area and to ultimately provide facade grants to the business and property owners to make exterior improvements to their property to foster sustainable growth in this former industrial district.
